Apply for funding from the Ragnar Sellberg Foundation

The Ragnar Sellberg Foundation offers funding for research projects conducted at Swedish universities, higher education institutions, and institutes, focusing on the field of waste and recycling.

The foundation welcomes applications for projects of varying scope, from thesis work and specialised studies to more advanced research such as licentiate or doctoral projects. We prioritise projects with secured supervision, which enhances the quality and feasibility of the research. Curious about previous grant recipients? Here’s a selection.

What the Foundation does not fund:

  • Applications from companies or individuals without a clear affiliation with an academic institution.
  • Projects lacking the potential to have a lasting or significant impact.
  • Travel grants not connected to a research project.

How to Apply

To apply for funding from the Ragnar Sellberg Foundation, please include the following:

  1. Personal details: Name, phone number, address, and email address.
  2. Project summary: A brief and concise description of the project’s purpose and objectives.
  3. Project plan: A detailed plan outlining the project’s goals, methods, timeline, potential collaboration with other researchers, an itemised budget, and references.
  4. CV: A summary of your academic and professional background. (You will be asked to provide this by email after registration)

We welcome applications throughout the year and look forward to learning more about your project. In 2026, the foundation is experiencing a high volume of applications, which means that the availability of funding is somewhat more limited. As a result, processing times may be longer and decisions may be delayed.

Applications are submitted via the form below. The Board reviews applications twice a year, with application deadlines on 15 February and 15 September.

The foundation reserves the right to independently assess applications and decide on the allocation of funds.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss your application, you are very welcome to contact Lars Tolgén by email for advice and guidance.
